I created this for people who ever imagine what would happen if the sweetest down to earth person was ever pushed over the edge. but feel trapped and frustrated by life stereotypes.
The road of revenge is a simple guide to getting even with those who have done a injustice to you. A lot of people talk about the power of revenge but few make it a habit routines…
The information out there mostly talks about black women’s roles in film and the ways in which they express power: through sexuality, formal authority, (i.e., holding a 2 powerful job, through kin relationships, or through sexuality). I also compare how often women are speaking in comparison to their male counterparts throughout the film and how language is utilized. When media’s image of the black woman is limited- both in her behavior, and the ways she carries herself, a message is sent to audiences regarding the standard for black women largely imposed and approved by the white male spectator.
So I thought to myself, “What if the Dark African Women was to one day say she had enough and transform into the very thing that they all feared...
Stereotypes:
Negative Racial Stereotypes and Their Effect on Attitudes Toward African-Americans
The racial stereotypes of early American history had a significant role in shaping attitudes toward African-Americans during that time. Images of the Sambo, Jim Crow, the Savage, Mammy, Aunt Jemimah, Sapphire, and Jezebelle may not be as powerful today, yet they are still alive.

Directors Statement
After seeing some of the struggles that African American women experience n all aspects of life, we wanted to use the visual form to showcase some of those things. Jordan Peele is a director that we both admire and his way of tackling controversial topics inspired us to put our own spin on a social issue. The character Rita handled her bad situations one way, but after watching Black Butterfly, we want the audience to be more self-conscious on how others are treated and it’s our hope that others will be an advocate for justice the right way.
